    Thank you.

As a matter of fact, I went to this Thai restaurant this past weekend (southern U.S.), and the chef, who is a trained Thai chef herself, told me that they don’t use shrimp paste, but the Papaya Salad tasted absolutely delicious.

I couldn’t believe the balance of all ingredients was just perfect. I don’t know how she gets the whole dish all watery, She said it’s all Papaya juice and lemon juice.

Shrimp paste is made of many small salt water shrimps which I don’t know if you can find them. I will look it up to see if there is any other way to make it. 🙂

How can I make shrimp paste myself? We don’t have it in our town.

I ate a lot of raw shrimp paste with sour mango and never get sick!! This depends on how strong your stomach is… haha… I ate food from 2 days ago and still fine.. you have to build up that kind of strength, you know? 😀 But! in this food, it is raw shrimp paste and many people ate this dipping sauce in the south. I haven’t heard anybody get sick….If you get the shrimp paste which is packed well in a clean and good container, I think you’ll be fine.

If you mean the greenery soup called Gang No Mai, my mom is a master on that one. haha 🙂 So sad Cha Om can only be planted by its branch. That makes it impossible to export it and grow in different part of the world, doesn’t it. :'(

Thank you.. I will send the compliment to my Mali. 🙂 You’re very lucky to have Cha Om planted and grown in your back yard. My friend lives in France is craving for it as she is pregnant and still she can’t find any.

Hi there Thai lady! That plant only grown in Asian countries. There is no English word for that plant. I love the plant especially if you cook it with bamboo shoot and mushroom, curry soup.

Any ideas about buying the pea eggplant? Even the biggest asian stores (Super H Mart) do not have them. I tried growing them but the plant requires two growing seasons. The branches in fall must be cut and replanted in the spring to bear fruit. As you probably know, pea eggplants have no substitute for the flavor.
