What is the recent obsession with calling Dolphin Fish “Mahi Mahi” I see it all the time in restaurants. We don’t call tuna by its Hawaiian name or even chicken or pig. Is it because Americans are so stupid they think they are eating flipper? IT IS A DOLPHIN FISH!

it’s also know as the sambal oelek in USA. You can find some in Thai food section. It’s just basically chilli with garlic. VERY SPICY and yummy. Nothing much like the sambal tumis cos it doesn’t other ingredients like the belacan paste, sugar, shallots, tumeric, etc. Hope this helps!

It’s our very favorite. Thank you! You know it too – in the traditional dutch oven way – good for you.

  38. ofdiscordiaSeptember 24, 2013 at 7:54 pmReply

That’s a great idea and one I’ve never tried before. It’s pretty amazing what you can do when you know what you’re doing. I bet recipes like this sustained a lot of people back in the frontier days. Adding bread to the mix probably made that oven produce 3 times as filling of a meal.

  39. wawhikerSeptember 24, 2013 at 8:46 pmReply

So happy to know – thank you! You’re set! Let us know how it turns out.

  40. wawhikerSeptember 24, 2013 at 9:44 pmReply

Thank you for your very nice comment – they keep us inspired. Dutch ovens are so much fun to cook with, and you can get real creative – and the meals turn out awesome. Real camp cooking – enjoy!

  41. wawhikerSeptember 24, 2013 at 10:16 pmReply

The chili part would work well in a regular pot – the cornbread needs heat from the top to bake. Thanks for watching!

Just got a Dutch oven and a campfire tripod, I am giving this recipe a try.

Would this recipe still work without a dutch oven? Say for example in just a regular pot?
