Laddu wont contain milk or condensed milk as burfi does. Both differ on these key ingredients not on their shape.

I have magnificent memories of India, and their food is out of this world.

  8. Payal774September 24, 2013 at 9:29 amReply

I used coconut macaroon from the Indian store. It worked just as fine and it tastes amazing! Thanks sooo much for the tutorial!!! 🙂

  9. sarasvati96September 24, 2013 at 9:57 amReply

I love coconut and coconut burfi is so good. Yet I don’t like too much sweetness. Could I add less sweetened condensed milk or would that change the outcome because of moisture? Or is there plain condensed milk(unsweetened)? Thanks. I enjoy your cooking videos. Take care

tastes great! and it is really easy too! Thanks. It would be great if you can show an easy recipe to make besan ladoos. Also some indian tea time snacks (gujju) which are healthy (baked, not fired) would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Can we use fresh grated coconut?

  14. ShowMeTheCurry.comSeptember 24, 2013 at 12:57 pmReply

: The condensed milk provides the sweetness and replaces sugar in this recipe 🙂

  15. carlo carlosSeptember 24, 2013 at 1:21 pmReply

usuallly while tasting burfi it tastes sweet.. but here how about sugar??

  16. Anjana SukumarSeptember 24, 2013 at 2:09 pmReply

Do I need to add any sugar if Im making more than 4 cups of coconut? Or the sweetened coconut with the condensed milk should suffice?
Youtube didnt allow me to finish my comment

  17. Anjana SukumarSeptember 24, 2013 at 2:37 pmReply

    Hi,
I have some sweetened coconut and some regular frozen cocunut from the Indian store. They are shredded, but not fine powder.
    1. Can I roast both in some ghee, and then grind them to a fine powder after cooling down to get dessicated powder? Or grind the frozen coconut directly in the grinder?

    2. What about the sugar element? I have sweetened coconut (In the US baking aisles, thats the only coconut they had, when I didnt have access to an Indian store), and I have a can of condensed milk

  18. Sadhana R.September 24, 2013 at 3:29 pmReply

Great recipe, I want to try it, but can you use (fresh/frozen) shredded coconut instead of the dehydrated coconut and ‘dry’ it in a pan on the stove? Thank you!

  19. ShowMeTheCurry.comSeptember 24, 2013 at 4:21 pmReply

: Yes, you can but that would be laddoos and not burfis 🙂

  20. James PhamSeptember 24, 2013 at 4:26 pmReply

can’t you roll them into balls and then let that set instead?

  21. ShowMeTheCurry.comSeptember 24, 2013 at 4:29 pmReply

    : But this time please don’t over-eat 🙂
    Happy Cooking 🙂

  22. ShowMeTheCurry.comSeptember 24, 2013 at 5:03 pmReply

    @oksana170166 : Yes, dessicated Coconut 🙂

  23. Molly JacobSeptember 24, 2013 at 5:47 pmReply

An egg wouldn’t really make them rise. I think you’ll find the slice fairly cake-like already – give it a go 😉

  32. spl33nageSeptember 24, 2013 at 10:21 pmReply

If I added an egg to make them rise would it ruin these?

  33. Macy VerdanbeardSeptember 24, 2013 at 10:48 pmReply

i just made it and turned out fine 😉 and by the way you have a video recipe that has nutella? well, we have a big stock of nutella and im thinking of using it for baking instead of letting it expire 😀 Thanks

  36. Nur SuhairahSeptember 25, 2013 at 1:23 amReply

Hi chef… I made this with digestives.. After mixing.. The mixture seems more runny than urs did.. Should i have added more cookies? And is the end product supposed to be chewy? Thank u!!

  40. Carl HintonSeptember 25, 2013 at 3:13 amReply

Here in England we’ve got these sweets called Minstrels, do you think they’d work instead of the M&Ms?

  41. OnePotChefShowSeptember 25, 2013 at 3:20 amReply

The slice needs to be baked 😉

  42. Marrei RalaSeptember 25, 2013 at 3:21 amReply
