This is almost like Amish apple snitz pie. It looks wonderful. A great
addition to pumpkin pie at thanksgiving.

I love this recipe!! I too have never had success with pie dough untilllll
I found a recipe for pate brisee (I tweaked it to omit the traditional
sugar): 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup cold butter cubes, 1/2 tsp salt and 1 egg with
1/2 an eggshell of ice water. Blend it in the food processor and scrape it
into saran wrap, form into a disk and chill until ready to roll. Orrrr, if
you’re in a hurry just push it into a pie plate like playdough then chill
in the freezer until ready to fill and bake.

A little trick you might want to try is to “seal” your pie shells with
butter before you fill them. It helps keep the crust from soaking up the
filling juices. I “seal”all my pie shells before baking – a tip from my
wonderful Grandma & expert pie maker! Apple Butter Pie looks wonderful –
    mmmm!

I just made a apple butter goo cake. I made the apple butter pie but
instead of pie crust I used the crust from the pumpkin gooey cake. YUMMY!!!
