Noreen, I’ve been to Hawaii, had roasted pig and it’s AMAZING! I am going
to give it a go…can’t wait!!!!
ataylorai1January 3, 2014 at 6:21 am
This is NOT my channel and I hope Noreen does not mind that I rely to your
comment but you could use a baking hen, which is a very large chicken that
was older when slaughtered or even better would be a large turkey breast or
whole turkey. The dark meat of the turkey (thigh, wing or leg) would be the
closest to what pork would taste like. Love the fact that she figured out
to use whole bananas which I never thought of.

Very wonderful as usual……….

Thank you for posting this. My mom made this for me as kids and now I’m
looking to make it for my own children. I’m also a BIG fan of Amazon Prime
for getting spices and such that can’t easily be found around my area.

Thank you! Hope I didn’t insult the tradition!
SandyzSeriousJanuary 3, 2014 at 8:22 am
Wowowow can’t wait to get on this one!
nanigrlzJanuary 3, 2014 at 8:33 am
I think you did a great job, don’t let anyone tell you different! It looked
awesome!
sha whitJanuary 3, 2014 at 8:39 am
WOW! Looks scrumptious. You did such a fine job as usual. You ae the best.
Good to know you can freeze this, I live alone. Can you say Kalua pork
forever!?! I like the banana idea as I don’t have an Asian market around
here. I have to get me some red salt and its a go. Can’t wait to try this.
Thanks.

chicken breast with a bone or boneless can be shredded so can a pot (chuck)
roast.
monkeeblueJanuary 3, 2014 at 9:46 am
You can do slow cooked beef and shred it… I can’t put the actual link
here but …. budgetbytes DOT blogspot DOT com has a recipe for the
slowcooker for shredded beef that is very easy and tasty.

OMG this I know is delicious. As you pulled back the foil & said this
smells delicious~I literally said OMG it does. LOL Then I realized I could
not smell it silly. I do just a Cajun Pork Shoulder in my crockpot (since I
am Cajun-LOL) & my oldest son (who is 29) will always request it. Will have
to try this one.

Love this. Pork shoulder is always going on sale, super cheap, and I’ve
been wanting to find a new way to cook it….Thanks Noreen!

Lamb is good for slow roast and shredding. I’ve seen it done with beef,
too. I’m not sure about poultry. Maybe if you went with a fatty bird like
duck or goose?
Debra RobbinsJanuary 3, 2014 at 11:25 am
World Market carries the Hawiian salt if you have one in your area.
SandyzSeriousJanuary 3, 2014 at 11:55 am
Alastair – I disagree with you. He holds the camera perfect. The downward
angle shows everything that Noreen is putting in the bowl or exactly what
she is doing with her hands. Excellent coverage in my opinion.
Alastair IngramJanuary 3, 2014 at 12:17 pm
Why is Rick holding the camera so high? I find it kind of annoying. I like
your videos, but not the downward angle.
Theresa MohneyJanuary 3, 2014 at 12:27 pm
Can you use a roasting bag
Skyhawk1987TurboJanuary 3, 2014 at 12:52 pm
Hmm I thought you were really against foil
eequalsmcdonaldJanuary 3, 2014 at 1:03 pm
Rub that meat, Noreen!

Last time I had Kalua pork was in Lihue 06.. and this brought back very
fond memories.. this is certainly going on my list to try.. and soon!!
thank you!
bombadomdomJanuary 3, 2014 at 2:37 pm
I don’t even eat pork and that looks delicious!
