Thanks. I made the pie crust and recipes exactly to your recipe. It was a hit at my dinner gathering. I took a couple of pictures that I’m posting on facebook. Thanks again for such a great recipe. I will always follow this recipe for my pies. Oh, the only thing I added was 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. I don’t know if it may a difference.

  12. Carol ScaturroSeptember 24, 2013 at 1:27 pmReply

This is the first moment I had to read your response. However, I did the crust Thursday and Friday morning did the filling. I did everything exactly as to your recipes. And the pie was so delicious and the crust was just perfect. The only thing I added to the pie crust was 1 tablespoon of apple cider. Thanks again for your step by step videos, and wanted you to know the pie was perfecto. It was a great hit, my company loved the pie.

  13. Joy of BakingSeptember 24, 2013 at 1:39 pmReply

Yes, however the pie may take longer to bake if you don’t bring the filling to room temperature before baking.

Can you make the apple filling ahead of time. Refrigerate and
then the next day make the pie?

You can make fruit pies with other fruits. However, depending on the fruit, you may have to adjust the amounts of sugar and thickener.

  18. zoranikaSeptember 24, 2013 at 3:48 pmReply

I was wondering if you ever tried making this pie with other types of fruit? I’m thinking of combining apples, pears and plums just to make it a bit special for my grandma’s birthday – do you think it would work? I’ve made this apple pie a few times already and everyone loves it! Thank you so much for all the amazing recipes on your website 🙂

Thanks so much! I made this recipe and it was delicious!! The only things I changed was I doubled the cinnamon(I’m a big fan) and added nutmeg and ginger, also instead of corn starch I added about 2,5 tbs of flour.. It came out perfect just like every recipe of yours I have tried. Keep up the good work!

You probably shouldn’t cut chicken on a wood board unless you’d want a chance of salmonella infecting other foods.

Tip for making ‘hard to open’ cans easy to open. Run the cap under hot water for 10 secs and then try :] It works perfect.
